Frequently asked questions, or what you must know before getting a tattoo!

1. Lifetime of makeup tattoo:

Makeup tattooing is a procedure in which pigment is injected into the skin. The pigment applied in this way remains in the skin for 1-3 years, depending on skin type, age, habits, the technique used and the color chosen. A natural make-up tattoo made with a lighter color and a softer technique, is always more visible than a darker, densely pigmented tattoo, which has a less natural effect. At a younger age the tattoo fades faster than in older adults due to the faster metabolism.

2. How do you choose the right time to prepare it?

It is forbidden to go to the swimming pool or sauna within 2-3 weeks after the tattoo! Solariums and direct sunlight should also be avoided in the 4 weeks after the tattoo, the use of sunscreen is recommended. So before you plan your summer vacation or wellness weekend, get your tattoo procedure carried out at least 4 weeks before.

3. Pain:

During a professionally performed make-up tattoo, the skin does not bleed, in rare cases only slight bleeding is experienced. Dont worry about the pain, with careful anesthesia, pain can be ruled out, and even in sensitive areas (e.g mouth) only minimal. Before and during thetattooing process, we anesthetize using a cream. A declaration for any allergies to any anesthetic is to be informed before treatment.

4. What do you expect after that?

The make-up tattoo heals with a minor scab, with good aftercare of the treated area it will enhance good healing. Any tattooed eyebrows and eye area will start to scab and fall within a week and for the mouth it will be approximately 3 days. Please note that the mouth area will be swollen for 2 days after the tattoo treatment which is normal. Eye tattooing can also be associated with swelling, there is a small chance of minor bruising around the area of patients with weak vascular walls. It should be noted that icing can help the area of swelling. The skin regenerates in a month. It should be noted that during regeneration, the shade, color
depth and evenness of the make-up tattoo will change. The permanent make-up will be perfect in 4-6 weeks from the day of the treatment, by which time the color will matured and the pigmentation will become uniformed. A follow up treatment is made between 1 month and 3 months if necessary.

5. Is it allowed to exercise after a make-up tattoo?

The freshly tattooed skin must be protected from sweat, due to the forming scab becoming
soft from the sweat. It is advised to skip training for 1-2 days after the tattoo.

6. Mouth tattoos and herpes

Patients that are proned to oral herpes (cold sores) can take additional immune booster 3-4 days before their treatment.
If the cold sore does occur, standard treatment from the pharmacy is adequate. In some minor cases it might affect the retention of the pigment.

7.What to do and what not to do before makeup tattooing?

Moisturize the skin sufficiently, it is recommended to scrub the skin for a week every day before the tattoo.
It is not recommended to use solarium or sunbathe at least one week before the treatment.
Pain killing medication should not be taken before treatment due to thinning of the blood.
Alcohol is prohibited 24 hours before and after the treatment.
Patients are recommended to be relaxed and full of energy and not exhausted.
During premenstrual cycle, if your pain threshold is low, it is recommended that your treatment should be postponed till after this period.
Do not drink coffee 1-2 hours before permanent makeup treatment!
Parental consent is required under the age of 18.

8. Makeup tattooing and summer:

A tattoo can be made in the summer, however this does require more caution from you! The treatment must be carried out 4 weeks before vacation. After treatment it is especially recommended that you shield the tattooed surface with a hat, sunglasses, or baseball cap
during the week of scabbing. After the scab falls off and in addition to shielding, you can use a 50-factor sunscreen on the tattooed surface (an easy to-use pen is also available in pharmacies), this gives you more freedom in the summer sun. After 4 weeks, you can sunbathe the skin surface, sun protection is still recommended.

9. Lip tattoo after lip filling

It is recommended that patients wait one month after any lip filling.

10. Eyelid suturing and eyelid tattooing

After the plastic surgery it takes between 6 to 12 weeks for inflamation to settle and full healing. It is recommended only after a medical check up, can the make up tattoo carried out without any issue.

11. False eyelashes

All false eyelashes must be removed at least 2 days before eyelid tattooing. False eyelashes can be replaced 2 weeks after the treatment.

12. What health factors influence or exclude the possibility of makeup tattooing?

The following have an influence of some exclusion for permanent make up treatment:
Epilepsy, nervous system disease, claustrophobia, depression, autoimmune disease, cancer, diabetes, bleeding, taking anticoagulant tablets (Aspirin, Macumar, Heparin), cardiovascular disease, high blood pressure, thyroid or other hormonal problems, tendency to herpes, in case
of allergies (lidocaine, latex, etc.), rosacea, keloid (scarring tendency).

Exclusion factors:
Cases of pregnancy, breastfeeding, skin disease, HIV, hepatitis or any existing infectious disease, febrile condition and taking antibiotics. In some cases where medication is being administered, permanent make up treatment still can be caried out after related issue has the all clear medically.

13. When is touch up necessary?

This is not possible no earlier than 4 weeks after the first appointment. The time is to allow  for the skin to regenerate and for the pigment to integrate.
Of course touch up is not necessary if everything is perfect after healing, the shape, color etc.
If touch up treatment is required this can be done within 1-3 months which is FREE in this time period (any later touch ups are liable to incur additional cost). Please note the touch up treatment does not include the creation of a new shape, a new colour or any technical changes.

MAKEUP TATTOO AFTER TREATMENT INFORMATION

After tattooing the color on the treated skin surface is much darker than the chosen color, this is because the pigment is oxidized and a scab is formed over it. The time period of the scab is unique to everyone and usually lasts up to 1 week approximately, except for the lip area, it can take up to 3-4 days.

The treated skin surface should be very thinly coated 1-2 times a day with a cream recommended by the permanent makeup technician. It is advised, not to touch or scratch the treated area with dirty hands has this could cause infection. Removal of the scab is forbidden has this will have an affect on the colour of the tattoo chosen.

In the first 24 hours, the surface can become drained. In this case, you should wipe it with a damp (not wet!) tissue with a firm movement.

After 24 hours, you MUST no longer touch the skin in order for it to settle. It is strictly FORBIDDEN to poke or scratch the scrab on the skin! In the absence of the upper epidermis skin layer, the skin is vulnerable and can cause scarring and tattoo surface heals in spots. With due care and following the rules, the tattoo will never be stained, it can be paler but the pigment always remains evenly in the skin!

IT IS FORBIDDEN to go to the swimming pool, sauna, within 2-3 weeks after the tattoo! During the scabbing period, the surface must not be touched by water!

Solarium use, direct sun exposure are FORBIDDEN for 4 weeks from the day of the tattoo! It is also recommended to use sunscreen afterwards.

Make-up must not be applied until the scabbing falls off, not even foundation. Do not have any cosmetic treatment for 2 weeks! Acid skin exfoliation treatment and painting of the surface it will be possible after 4 weeks from treatment.

Eyelid and lip tattoos may cause swelling for 2-3 days. This is a completely normal process. Icing is allowed, while keeping the area dry. Bruising and hematoma may occur in the case of weakness of the vascular wall during tattooing on more sensitive skin surfaces. This will be
absorbed by itself in a few days. After the scab falls off, the dark surface suddenly disappears and a very light skin surface can
be seen instead. It takes 28 days for the skin to regenerate, which is how long it takes for the color to heal completely. Even after this, the surface which is kept light, can be darkened and changed with touch up!
Damage to the tattooed surface in any way during the healing process (direct scratching, any cosmetic treatment, laser intervention etc) will result in loss of treatment guarantee (free touch up!)
Occurrence of extreme cases:
In the event of inflammation or styes forming at one point of the eyelid or oral cavity it is recommended to seek advice at your local pharmacy.
In the prevention of cold sore emergence, you should start taking the medication from pharmacy at least 3-4 days before lip tattooing and after.
Swelling and tension around the lip area is a normal process.
